Before forming Air Transport Solutions, Ken served as a Senior Gulfstream Captain and standards officer for biotech giant Amgen Inc. in their Aviation department. Recruited as flight operations started up at Amgen, Ken was part of the initial staff when Amgen expanded their aircraft fleet and decided to conduct in-house operations.
Prior to joining Amgen, Ken served as a Captain and standards officer at pharmaceutical company Merck, flying worldwide support for top Merck officials and its executive committee members.
From 1983 to 2001, Ken held several positions in the commercial airline industry. Working for a scheduled FAA part 135 Air Carrier, Ken served as Manager of Training, Chief Pilot and eventually Director of Operations for Jet Express, a regional airline that served the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states.
As a member of the start-up team, Ken was intimately involved in the FAA certification and re-launch of Midway Airlines in 1993. He served as the first aircraft fleet manager for Midway and held various training and operations positions during his time at the airline. Ken flew several different types of large commercial jet airliners and acted as a simulator check airman during that time period as well.
